Typically, I try to transplant our early tomato plants somewhere between May 1 and 10. I usually have our onions transplanted and carrots seeded by this time. So I'm running behind there. I actually had a space tilled, fertilized, and ready for them before changing my mind on their location. They'll now go into the narrow bed where our peas and cucumbers grew last season. I'd planned to grow garlic in the bed, but I didn't get it planted last fall. How much garden we have this season is still up in the air. Weather and soil conditions will have a lot to do with that. But more so, how much my 77 year old body can tolerate is a major factor.

I seeded a bunch of pepper plants last evening. Eighteen cells of deep pack inserts went to paprika peppers, as our ground paprika jar is getting low. Twelve of the cells went to Boldog Hungarian Spice Paprika, a variety that produces large, long peppers. The other six cells got some seed from a packet labeled "mixed." I also started twelve cells of our favorite bell pepper, Earliest Red Sweet. The ERS variety produces medium sized peppers, but produces well into the late season.
